London Pride 2012

So I went to World Pride in London on Saturday. Pride, to my mind, is one of those things that come round once a year, like your birthday or Christmas. You wander into Soho, you watch the parade, you go check out the rally and booths in Trafalgar Square, meet as many of your queer friends as you have the energy to find in all the crowds. (Then depending on said energy levels, stay out and drink for a bit or go home.) I’ve gone every year I’ve been in London since I started identifying as queer.

Hello all! How are you today? I hope you're at least 50% fantastic. If you're not, I strognly advise a hot drink of your choosing and relaxing in a comfortable (or as near to it as you can get) position whilst watching something hilarious that requires minimal brain activity on your part.

Or maybe that's not your thing. I've got no reccomendations in that case; I can only speak from experience.

What's that, I'm pretending you just said? "What a masterful segue"? Oh dear, imaginary reader. You're too kind.

Why yes indeed, I am Zim, and I am here to talk about my experiences and feelings.

Now, I could perhaps discuss with you how, after several years, being compared to a tiny, green alien ceases to be hilarious. (Though it does bear mentioning that all your base are indeed belong to me.) Or perhaps the hardships of a life lived as someone with a large head who also happens to look fabulous in a large variety of hats. Maybe even my flaming vitriol at the fact that mushrooms continue to exist as a viable foodsource despite all the letters I've written to their parents and their supervisors.*

There are so, so many things I could talk about incessantly to you all, but I think I'll settle on the topic of Pride.

Oxford Pride fundraiser - TONIGHT

The very first Jolly Farmers' Pride Quiz will be taking place this Monday, 4th April, from 8:30pm.



£2 entry.
Teams of 2 to 5 people.
Prize for the winning team.

This will be a weekly event and all proceeds with go to help fund The Oxford Pride Festival - Taking place 3rd to the 12th June.

Oxford Pride is Oxford's premier GLBTIQ festival which runs for ten days
and hosts a range of events, exhibitions and celebrations.

They are looking for Artists of all disciplines who are interested in
participating in its 2011 programme during June.

All artistic mediums are welcome to submit: painters, sculptors,
drawers, performance artists, video artists and everything in between.

Please submit a brief Artist statement, C.V and up to five jpegs (of no
more than 1MB per image) to: marcus@oxford-pride.org.uk
